Millions of people receiving family allowances, tax credits and more financial aid are being warned that their payment dates will vary next week due to the August public holiday.

The holiday is Monday August 31st, which means that all DWP payments due on that day will be paid on Friday August 28th.

This includes those who receive the carer’s allowance and anyone who receives their universal credit allowance on a Monday.

Family allowances were first introduced in the 1970s to help working parents cover their living expenses. Today he pays around £ 20.70 per week for the first child and £ 13.70 per week for subsequent children.

Child tax credits and work tax credits can be paid weekly or every four weeks.

If you wait for your tax credit to be paid on August 31, you will receive it on August 28.

Family allowances, PIP, pension credit, DLA, care allowance and state pension

These benefits are usually paid every four weeks – except in the case of family allowances where single parents can choose to receive them weekly.

If you’re expecting payments for any of the above on August 31, you’ll receive them on August 28 instead.

ESA and income assistance

ESA and Income Assistance are generally paid every two weeks. If your payment is due on a holiday, you will be paid on the last business day before the holiday. In this case, July 31.

Universal credit

Universal Credit payment dates tend to vary from person to person – but you won’t be affected unless your payment day falls on Monday.

If your usual monthly payment date is August 31, you will receive it a little earlier on August 28.

When will the money go to my account?

Depending on your bank, funds should be available shortly after midnight on the day they are due, usually in the early hours.

Some banks deposit money into your account around 11:30 p.m. so that you can withdraw it by midnight on payday. Others will release your funds at midnight or a few minutes later.

But in some cases you have to wait between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., while others won’t let you touch your money until at least 6 a.m. on payday.
