KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM / FM) – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sent a letter of determination to the Broncos Kitchen Foundation officially recognizing the charity as a 501 (c) (3 ).

The designation allows the anti-hunger organization to accept charitable donations, officials said on Monday.

“We are delighted with this news and thank the IRS for expediting our request,” officials said in a statement.

The announcement comes as the Broncos Kitchen Foundation prepares to officially launch its 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. fundraising campaign on Friday, October 1 at its Wesley Foundation dining site.

Their goal is to raise $ 3.1 million to buy a property, build an office / commissioner, buy food trucks and hire 20-25 employees.

Currently, Broncos Kitchen serves free lunches from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays at 58 West Student Apartments and on Thursdays at the Wesley Foundation.

Students from the Kalamazoo area and their immediate families are eligible provided the enrolled student provides valid identification.
