Liverpool defender Ben Davies is expected to join Sheffield United on loan.
A one-season deal was struck on Saturday morning and final details are being worked out so he can complete the move early next week.
Davies was the No.1 pick for new Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic to fill the left center-half position.
Talks have been going on for some time and the Blades wanted the option of buying Davies, but this was pushed back by Liverpool.
There are also undisclosed loan fees involved which also include a promotion bonus if Sheffield United are promoted to the Premier League again this quarter.
The Reds had planned to keep Davies as a replacement, but Rhys Williams has reportedly impressed Jurgen Klopp in the preseason and Davies needs regular games.
Davies joined Liverpool on a £ 2million deal with Preston in January, but did not make a first-team appearance.
Liverpool struggled with center-back options last season, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip injured, so Ozan Kabak was also loaned out by Schalke this month.
They have since signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig this summer on a £ 36million deal.
