Autumn is here and it’s back to school! For some, this means a return to the routine of college classes and for parents, the question “how are we going to pay for this”? But the student loan anxiety doesn’t stop when the school year ends and there’s been a lot of talk about federal loans and will you get any money back?
There are strong voices and opinions on both sides of the federal student debt issue. Some say the feds should NOT cancel the loans and the other side is asking for full loan forgiveness.
Since the end of the pandemic, some say they deserve a refund for payments they made over the last two years and more. The truth is, there may be a big payback coming for your federal student loan payments..
CNet.com reports this:
Borrowers can actually request repayment of any payments made on student loans since loan forbearance began on March 13, 2020, according to the Federal Office for Student Aid. Your pre-pandemic amount would then be eligible for the new forgiveness plan, up to $10,000 in debt forgiveness ($20,000 for Pell Grant recipients).
